Vic One + Vic One Hundred + Vic Research Panel
Welcome to the Principal’s Office at Victoria College, home of Vic’s Academic Programs!
Victoria College is an intellectual community that encourages innovative thinking and supports our students’ academic success. We offer small-group seminars that help students form relationships with professors and network with peers in an accessible learning environment. We also support and promote opportunities for our undergraduates to pursue independent research projects.
Vic One is a foundational first-year program housed at Victoria College, which aims to provide students with an intimate learning environment within the large research powerhouse of the University of Toronto. Vic One consists of two small seminar courses per term, all of which tackle big ideas and prepare you for your chosen major. The program is also enriched by weekly guest lectures with professors, visiting artists, writers, scientists, explorers, ambassadors, and other public figures.
Prospective Vic One students apply to one of eight academic streams, which span the humanities, social sciences, sciences, education, and leadership. Each Vic One stream offers a unique perspective through the exploration of the inter-connectivity between disciplines while providing the skills necessary to thrive in university and beyond.
Enrolment is limited to 250 and courses are capped at 25. Students in the program get to know their peers and instructors well and engage in an enriched multidisciplinary curriculum. This introduction to university-level studies provides an excellent foundation by encouraging the development of critical thinking, research and writing skills.
Start building a strong foundation for your academic career from day one with a small-class experience. First-Year Foundation Seminars, including Vic One Hundred courses, help you form relationships with professors, network with peers in an accessible environment and transition to university studies.
Victoria College is an intellectual community that encourages innovative thinking. One way the College does this is by supporting and promoting opportunities for our undergraduates to pursue independent research projects. We have a dedicated Undergraduate Research Coordinator to help you find great research opportunities.
