Spasmodic Dysphonia is a neurological disorder classified in a family of conditions called focal dystonia. Spasmodic dysphonia causes involuntary movements of the vocal cords causing vocal quavering and changes in pitch and rhythm during speech, but in mild cases, certain functions of the larynx like coughing, laughing, whispering, and in some cases singing may remain completely normal. In this presentation, we will discuss the symptoms, causes, and treatment options for this vocal disorder.
