Since 1984, The Volunteer Action Centre (VAC) has provided connections and leadership in Waterloo Region to support the development of individuals and organizations through volunteerism. VAC provides a central hub for accessing current volunteer opportunities and shares best practices and continuous learning for professionals in the nonprofit sector.

OUR VISION is of a Waterloo Region that is invested in volunteerism. OUR MISSION is to provide regional leadership and expertise on volunteerism to increase participation, quality and diversity of volunteer experiences. This will be accomplished through programs, partnerships and services that aspire to these VALUES as the foundation.

During the state of emergency, the Volunteer Action Centre, along with Waterloo Region has created The Pandemic Volunteer Program. The purpose of this program is to provide support to the community during an emergency. This new collaborative volunteer intake system helps to protect both organizations and volunteers with WSIB coverage.
