Typography
My works are an exploration of typography. Typography is the art of arranging letters and text in a way that makes the copy legible, clear, and visually appealing to the reader. In addition, it involves font style, appearance, and structure, which aims to elicit certain emotions and convey specific messages. There are several aspects of typography that sparked my interest, such as attracting and holding the attention of an audience, helping to create harmony, being reader friendly, and building recognition. Over time, I have learned that these aspects are important in establishing an identity that your audience will always recognize. In response, I have made a series of works using the arrangement of text combined with personal photographs and drawn illustration to create new imagery that provides strong, encouraging messages to my audience. In addition to the use of Bernard MT Condensed and Cooper Black, line drawings and brush/paint tools are used create my own fonts to further enhance the illustrative component of my works, as well serve as correlation to the content of the photographs and drawn illustrations.
