My work focuses on body image, body dysmorphic disorder, and eating disorders. Using paint and printed text, I seek to expose the misconceptions behind stereotypes portrayed in the media about the type of symptoms associated with suffering from these disorders. These two-dimensional works push to represent the real dangers of these disorders and how prevalent they are as well as how they can become all-consuming for those affected. Drawing upon personal experiences and examining how media affects body image, I hope to shed light on the topic and show how truly horrific these illnesses are.
