My process for these pieces started with a board on Pinterest and an informal idea that I wanted to paint plants. I rough sketched my drawings twice, a loose drawing, and then a second more detailed drawing over the first. I usually give myself about a day after brainstorming in order to fully realize my idea before executing it with paint. These paintings were done separately so I could focus my attention on one piece at a time. This helped me to imagine being in that setting with the plants and sunlight, when in reality, I was quarantined in my bedroom.
These paintings are siblings of each other; alike, but not too similar. They are an exaggeration of the imaginative multicolored objects that I enjoy being around. Bold, vivid colors, the deep green and blue hues seen in plants, fruits, and vegetables along with clean lines and brushstrokes are my inspiration. The content of these two pieces reflect my love of mixing bright colors with abstract, cartoony shapes. These paintings were done with acrylic on an 18x24 canvas. When you view my art, I want you to be amused by the beauty of nature.
These pieces not only reflect me as an artist, but also show what makes me happy. With my art, I love to bring joy, color, and fun into things that might not always be considered amusing.
