Internet-based politically progressive hashtags fulfill three interwoven functions that encourage a new millennial and generation z type of political participation while bolstering a sense of community, all on digital platforms: persuasion or political advocacy, grassroots action, and modes of expression and public discussion. In this presentation, I demonstrate how specific hashtags coined and used by the undocumented Latino/a community of the millennial and generation z demographics aid in the process of transplanting online activism to the offline world.
