We are working with Nostoc. HT-58-2 culture, and the extract of which was previously reported with the reversed multidrug resistance in an in vitro cancer screen. The culture was not axenic, which consists of the filamentous cyanobacterium (majority) and many community bacteria. A fascinated compound, tolyporphin A, was then analyzed to be the anti-cancer agent mentioned above. From 2015, we sequenced and built the genome of HT-58-2Cyano and a major community bacterium, as well as detected the locales of tolyporphins within the culture. Now, we are pursuing the biosynthesis pathway of tolyporphins in the cyanobacterium, and discover other producers for tolyporphins.
