Customer Problem
~70% of K-12 youth in Ontario feel science is fun and think that having a STEAM background provides many career options. But youth have challenges in understanding what those careers are or where to find resources for topics they are really interested in. In particular youth find it challenging to access career profiles and preliminary work experiences in a STEM subject. Many youth polled indicate they love space topics and don’t know what they can do in the space sector if they are not good astronaut candidates. Teachers similarly find it challenging to find engaging, current, interactive content around space exploration topics that they can use in the classroom.
Product/Service Solution
We host a variety of after-school programs that cater to Junior (Gr.1-5), Senior (Gr. 6-8), and high school audiences. These are meant to introduce youth to several space topics that encourage them to learn through inquiry and small challenges. Students with prior space knowledge are given more complex challenges that incorporate space content with common STEAM skillsets like coding, robotics, etc. We have recently launched an e-commerce store to provide products that can complement our programs.
While we have yet to actively get into classrooms, we have on occasion given workshops to teachers to help classrooms incorporate space topics or explore career paths.
Target Market
Youth under the age of 18 across Ontario. Educators who teach elementary and middle school youth.
