In this project our team members designed an innovative drone grabbing claw system. This design should be attached to a drone to function. With the help of this device, the field of delivery and logistics will completely change. The main objective of the project was to create a prototype of a gripper that can be used to deliver small loads around the city. Small parcels, documents, mail and newspapers, advertising and products from the store - all this can be carried by a drone. This technology is environmentally friendly and can replace couriers and people delivering with cars. Mail can be delivered directly to hard-to-reach places. For example, the use of such a system in mountains or forests is simply irreplaceable. We have faced many engineering challenges and successfully overcome them. During the development process, we created 3 versions of our project and each time, from version to version, we found flaws and shortcomings. We analyzed our work, improved and optimized the design.
To calculate the load on our device, we used FEA. For convenience, the entire system is controlled from the same controller as the drone itself. Since the most important thing in aviation is weight and aerodynamics, we optimized the shape and reduced weight. The idea for the name and logo were taken from the shape of the Latin letter omega. Since this letter has a shape similar to a claw. To further develop the project, it will be possible to produce it using casting or Injection molding.
