Programming a mini-CNC machine using Fluid NC software designed for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines that allows you to control the movement of the machine and improving overall workplace safety. As an Electronics Engineering student, my objective is to assist workers in minimizing their exposure to potentially hazardous tasks, thereby contributing to the creation of a safer working environment. This project identifies a need for an effective solution including precision, repeatability, efficiency, and flexibility, making it a valuable technology in modern manufacturing, and providing a reliable means of machine functioning. This project has been elaborated to perform the following objectives:
•Retrofit a BG-6350 milling table and drill press with NEMA17 stepper motors (XYZ)
•Use TB6600 stepper drivers to drive the NEMA17 stepper motors.
•Select appropriate YAML file configuration using the fluidNC CNC firmware designed for the ESP32 controller.
•Select an open-source G-Code sender software to send G-Code from a PC (via USB) to the motion control board. Universal G-code Sender
•Run G-Code on the finished machine.
