Our innovative solution is meticulously designed to not only streamline the checkout process but also enhance convenience for shoppers, thereby reshaping the traditional retail experience. Smart Shopping Cart is a revolutionary self-checkout system incorporated into shopping carts, leveraging advanced technologies to optimize the retail checkout process. It aims to eliminate long queues and enhance convenience for customers by allowing them to scan and pay for items directly from their carts. The components used in this project include a Raspberry pi, Barcode scanner, High resolution touch screen display, and Load cell weight sensor with HX711.These components work together seamlessly to deliver a frictionless shopping experience for customers while providing retailers with valuable insights into consumer behavior and purchasing patterns.
The working procedure of the Smart Shopping Cart system involves several key components working in harmony to deliver a seamless self-checkout experience. At its core, the system utilizes advanced scanning technology embedded within the cart itself, allowing customers to easily scan items as they shop. Each item scanned is added to a virtual cart displayed on an integrated touchscreen interface, providing real-time updates on the total cost of the purchase. In the context of a smart shopping cart, a weight sensor paired with an HX711 amplifier plays a crucial role in several functions. The weight sensor can detect when an item is placed in the cart. This detection triggers the system to add the item to the virtual cart displayed on the cart's touchscreen interface. By measuring the weight of items placed in the cart, the system can automatically identify the type and quantity of products added by the shopper. This helps streamline the checkout process by eliminating the need for manual scanning or input. The weight sensor can also serve as a security feature by detecting any discrepancies between the expected weight of items in the cart and the actual weight.
Our smart shopping carts offer a range of features aimed at improving the overall shopping experience. These include:
