Semester 6 Project, located at 185 Front St. E in Toronto, is aimed at revitalizing a previously designated brownfield site. The project's primary goal is to transform urban living by seamlessly integrating modern architecture into the surrounding natural environment. Dock Garden (design tittle) creates a distinctive residential complex that promotes a harmonious relationship between residents and nature through innovative design concepts and a commitment to sustainability.
The vision for this design extends beyond traditional urban developments, envisioning a space where residents can get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and reconnect with nature while still enjoying modern amenities. The towering structure, standing 131.4 meters tall and spanning 41 floors, offers breathtaking views and a unique living experience. Every aspect of the design, from the layout of the various wings to the incorporation of green technologies, is meticulously planned to improve residents' quality of life while reducing the project's environmental footprint. Dock Garden's sustainable efforts are centered on innovative technologies such as solar panels, helical wind turbines, and extensive green roof systems. These features not only reduce energy consumption, but also help to create a thriving ecosystem in the heart of the city. In addition, the design prioritizes accessibility, with nearby TTC stops and the Union subway station providing easy access to public transportation. Commuting becomes more convenient for residents when southern exposure and road access are maximized.
Its architectural style combines modern elegance with natural elements, reflecting a modern design philosophy. The fragmented exteriors and paneling blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment, resulting in a visually appealing yet harmonious aesthetic. Furthermore, the design follows the guidelines outlined in the Toronto Official Plan while providing a wide range of amenities to meet the needs of the community.
