I had the opportunity to do an internship with the New England Public Health Training Center. I collaborated with Pawtucket Central Falls Development (PCFD), a local non-profit organization based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. They have several programs in place to provide families with safe and affordable housing, the tools and knowledge to help families achieve their goals of homeownership, and other programs to improve community health and reach healthy neighborhoods for all. For the internship, I created three deliverables for PCF Development, each showcasing the importance of their work and impact they have on the community which will be used to share with their stakeholders. The three deliverables included: a housing report, three infographics, and a. 2:30 short video clip. The poster showcases my work during this internship.
Through PCF Developments partnerships and commitment to the community, they have been able to increase homeownership, offer affordable and safe housing units, address crime in the area, provide low-cost healthy nutritious farm to table food, and develop secure parks/playgrounds near residential housing. These efforts have helped to further strengthen the community and provide these families the chance to attain their full potential, achieving health equity.
