During my internship at Conservation Halton, I played a key role in advancing the organization's sustainability vision. One of my main contributions was drafting a strategy that pushed a sustainability-forward agenda, setting the stage for future initiatives. Additionally, I led a company-wide presentation where I introduced the concept of sustainability, explained how it is already are being implemented at Conservation Halton, and future directions. This presentation sparked meaningful conversations and increased awareness across teams, laying the groundwork for stronger cross-departmental collaboration on sustainability efforts. Through this, I was able to facilitate roundtables with seven departments, where we conducted SWOT analyses and used materiality matrices to prioritize pressing sustainability issues.
What made this internship especially rewarding was the supportive environment at Conservation Halton. I spearheaded a mental wellness challenge team and enjoyed working in a space where mental and physical health were prioritized. These experiences, combined with the opportunity to engage with colleagues across departments, helped shape my understanding of how to implement meaningful sustainability initiatives within an organization, teaching me to be patient, collaborative, and strategic in driving change.
