Internship Reflection at RPRA - Policy and Data Analyst Intern

During my internship at the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA), I had the unique opportunity to explore the vital role that data analysis plays in supporting organizational objectives and promoting sustainable development. RPRA, a government-mandated body responsible for enforcing Ontario’s circular economy laws, relies heavily on accurate data to guide its regulatory efforts and achieve its mission. In this presentation, I will share key observations and outcomes from my internship, focusing on the critical importance of data management and analysis in contributing to RPRA’s success.

Through tasks such as drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), cleaning and organizing large datasets, and creating public reports, I gained a deeper understanding of how foundational data work underpins effective decision-making. I also learned that continuous improvement and adaptability are essential, even within well-established organizations like RPRA. This experience has reinforced my commitment to using data as a powerful tool for driving positive change and ensuring sustainable practices.
