Gender and sex are words that are used interchangeably in society but have entirely different definitions. The term sex refers to the biological genetics of humans and animals, whereas gender is a socially constructed word referring to behavioral, cultural, or psychological traits that society distinguishes between being masculine or feminine to determine if you are a man or woman.
As a transmasculine person and member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I am often seen as entertainment-- a curiosity--or fetishized by cis people.
Because of this, strangers assume they have the right to ask questions about my body and personal life that would otherwise seem inappropriate for a conversation among cis people.
I am routinely put in an awkward position to decide whether to educate people or leave them to their assumptions of what being trans is like. I'm unfairly relied upon to do this education to create progress in our culture to adhere that other trans people's survival will happen.
