This thesis focuses on applying perception theory within workplace design by creating a headquarters for Uber Technologies. Using visual, space-time, and logical perception, the design will showcase the user experience as it relates to motivation, quality of work-life, and ultimately productivity.
The first goal of this thesis is to create a space that motivates its users. Pairing the visual and logic portions of perception theory, this space will encourage people to engage within the environment, inspire conversation, and invigorate users. Secondly, this space intends to promote a positive quality of work-life within the workplace. With more touchdown areas, conversations promote positivity and the feeling of self-worth in professional environments. This is furthered by the irregular shapes that the users will pass through each day. This space intends to encourage users to want to go to work rather than have to go to work. The third and final goal is to promote productivity within the workplace. Floor one will be designed to set the stage for the company's day-to-day success. Entering the campus, the program includes a community engagement entrance, experiential lobby and activity area, a social corner, and open workspaces.
This design reflects Uber’s culture of community and wellness and integrates the global ride sharing companies light and dark contrast identity and Atlanta’s culture and materials to create a mature, yet lively work environment fit for productivity and collaboration.
