Do certain majors experience more symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression? Do psychology students enter psychology to address their own mental health issues? We hypothesized that STEM majors would report greater scores of these symptoms in self-report questionnaires. Self-perceived stress, but not college major (STEM vs. non-STEM), predicts emotion dysregulation and social anxiety. Psychology majors are more likely than other majors to report receiving psychotherapy.
