SURVIVING COVID INFECTION AS A PERSON WITH DISABILITY DURING THE PHILIPPINE LOCKDOWN

We've all heard about the corona virus and the millions that have been infected. But by far, I have heard little or none at all from the side of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the wake of the covid infection and the lockdowns. I would like to share my story, first, as a PWD, and second, as a survivor of the covid infection. This presentation, through the use of narrative frames, will derive from my experience during my days of the militarized lockdown in the Philippines, and an in-depth look at my time infected as a front-liner, designing and building temporary isolation shelters for the infected, and then getting infected myself. PWDs who will be attending, will also be asked to share their experience in their locality, and to see how they fared during the lockdown and infection. A possible best case approach may be derived from this, and how they may be applied to other cities or towns as well.
