Coping & Resilience in Parents of Children With and Without Disabilities During Covid-19 Remote Instruction

Parents and caregivers supporting their children's instruction during the COVID-19

pandemic faced many challenges to their mental, physical, and spiritual health. The purpose

of this study was to examine both coping strategies and resilience characteristics of parents

of both children with and without disabilities during the initial pivot to remote instruction in

the early stages of COVID-19. Data were collected on 275 parents and caregivers through

an online survey using existing listservs, and social media. Data will be presented regarding

these parents' coping and resilience, differences between those parents with and without

children with disabilities will be shared, and recommendations will be offered to improve

the experiences of remote instruction for all families, with a specific focus on those with

disabilities.
