The Art of Engineering: A New SECME Competition

SECME is a nonprofit organization with K-12 STEM pre-college programs in public, charter, private, and informal school learning (ISL’s) environments. Our Headquarters are housed at Georgia Tech under the College of Engineering. We have four engineering student competitions.  Winners from their local/state/district/regional competitions advance to National Competition Finals. Competitors are divided by competition into two categories: 1) non-traveling students and student team winners from all divisions (elementary, middle, and high school) and 2) traveling student teams from middle and high school divisions (for Mousetrap Car and VEX EDR Robotics). Before the current public health crisis, one of SECME’s member university partners would sponsor the annual three-day residential National Student Engineering Design Competition Finals on their campus.  In 2019, the SECME National Student Engineering Design Competition Finals was sponsored by the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. This poster spotlights a new SECME competition launched by Educational Outreach Mgr. I, Dr. Julaunica Tigner.
