Integrating Communication Components into Engineering Curriculum

Communication is a fundamental component in engineering.  The ability to clearly articulate thoughts and ideas is critical for effective engineering team dynamics.  As students advance in their professional careers, the need for effective communication skills increases and broadens.  Engineering curricula often places less emphasis on communication skills as compared to technical proficiency.  This work is a summary of communication-based course projects that were integrated into an undergraduate and a graduate Civil Engineering course.
