Institute of Medical Science

The Institute of Medical Science (IMS) offers stimulating, research-intensive Master of Science (2-year) and Doctor of Philosophy (5-year) programs in basic sciences, clinical sciences, health systems and services, and population health research. Our programs are full-time, allowing for an immersive graduate training experience. We specialize in multi-disciplinary translational research with bench-to-bedside clinical applications.

IMS is the largest graduate unit in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, with over 500 students and 600 faculty spread across the University of Toronto's affiliated hospitals and research sites.

Under the mentorship of one of our world-renowned faculty, IMS students receive specialized graduate training and exposure to Toronto’s finest cutting-edge biomedical research.
