During Dr. Vera Sanford’s time at the Oneonta Normal School, between 1933 to 1959, her presence was an important factor in raising the scholarly reputation of the college. Her personality and her approach to teaching made a big difference not only to her own students, but legacy can be a help to future students who wants to become educators. When I took MATH 301 in Fall 2020, I was drawn to write a research paper on Vera Sanford, and in Spring 2021 I am doing an independent study on her and her works. After finishing my research paper in MATH 301, I knew that Dr. Sanford's name should be known to all the Adolescent Education: Mathematics majors at the College. Dr. Sanford wrote a textbook on the history of mathematics, A Short History of Mathematics. This semester, I’m creating a list of every resource at the College on Sanford’s life, teaching record, and research in order to highlight her achievements at the College. My poster presentation highlights her historical research and teaching skills that influenced future educators to change the way students think of mathematics.
