Plant That Seed Foundation is a newly formed Canadian non-profit organization helping to support community groups tackle poverty by providing local food development funds and local food training including fresh-food based organizational visioning and development. This work in impactful for low-income people as it increases access to fresh food while increasing food skills. Local food systems also grow social capital for participants and adapts local communities to climate change through the building of their local food system, with local people as leaders and agents of change.
Student Opportunities Available
We are currently working at Plant That Seed to develop free on-line local food training for Food Banks in Canada. Students have an opportunity to join our local food research team where we are examining many exciting and deeply profound issues of the food system within a complex systems thinking lens that touch on the intersection of food, poverty and climate change.
