Welcome to the Department of Management at the University of Toronto Scarborough!
The field of Marketing is broad and involves processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large. Traditionally, marketing was the means by which an organization connected with its target audience to communicate the value of and ultimately sell its products and services; however, increasingly, marketing has become more about companies building deeper, more meaningful, and lasting relationships with consumers of their products and services. Consequently, the study of marketing involves a thorough understanding of specialized business functions including consumer behaviour, market research, branding, product management, pricing, advertising, e-commerce, and sales management.
U of T Scarborough's Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Specialist Program in Management and Marketing, with optional co-op, ensures that students receive a holistic orientation by developing an in-depth theoretical understanding of the fundamental aspects of marketing strategy including the company, competition, and consumer, with simultaneous rigorous training in the nuances of implementing marketing tactics through the many tools offered by pricing, promotion, product, and distribution. The marketing area promotes critical thinking among students and challenges them to explore more advanced issues and topics.
