  • We offer a variety of programs to meet the needs of many different groups of students interested in becoming nurses. Our traditional undergraduate program is a four- year program for students interested in becoming nurses. We also offer a BS to BSN accelerated program for individuals who have a bachelor's degree in another field and wish to become nurses. We have a RN to BSN completion program for associate degree prepared registered nurses who wish to continue their education and a graduate program for baccalaureate prepared registered nurses who wish to become family nurse practitioners. Many of our undergraduate nursing applicants become successful alumni who contribute to the health and well-being of their community and return to the college when they are ready to take the next step and enroll in our graduate program. Take a few moments to review the options we offer and some of the highlights you can experience within the programs themselves.

Students Interested in the Traditional Undergraduate Program (Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Students)

For new and prospective students, it is important to understand how the Nursing department handles applications and progression into the traditional nursing program. While acceptance to Brockport is a huge step, it does not necessarily mean progression into the Nursing program. All Brockport students who intend to progress into the traditional nursing program are considered "Nursing Intents" until they have applied for progression and been accepted into the Nursing program. The program is highly competitive and has a list of pre-requisites that each student must fulfill before applying to the program.
The first two years of course work will revolve around completion of your general education requirements and pre-requisites, concluding with your application for progression into the program submitted by January. Applicants are notified of their progression status into the program by March. Questions about this program may be directed to [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected].
