  • SOAR is an Undergraduate Research Journal here at SUNY Oneonta whose mission is to provide an outlet for students to publish research they have worked on through their academic career. SOAR accepts submissions ranging from research papers, literature reviews, to book reviews. Being a research journal, these submissions go through a peer review process which is also conducted by students. The method toward producing an issue involves a search for authors and peer reviewers, which usually occurs during the Spring semesters of the academic year. The editorial board, also composed of students, processes all the submissions and makes sure they are ready to be published. After submissions and peer reviews are verified, the editorial board takes the authors' works and formats them, checks for grammatical errors or any other problems peer reviews listed, checks citation methods, and anything else towards making the final product as presentable as possible. This is usually done during the Fall semesters of the academic year. Because of the coronavirus, this schedule has been somewhat changed as SOAR plans to publish a Spring 2022 issue on top of the Fall 2021 issue published last semester. Our goal at the SRCA showcase is to find students who would want to join any of the 3 elements that help SOAR function. Those desiring to be authors or peer reviewers can come from any major that constitutes a social science background. Currently, the editorial board is looking to find a new Managing Editor to coordinate the journal for the Fall 2022 semester.
