A message from the Director, Dr. Tammy Harris

It is with great pleasure and a sense of pride that I welcome you to the DeWitt School of Nursing at Stephen F. Austin State University. We are happy that you are considering our program and look forward to working with you in the future. The DeWitt School of Nursing has a rich history and solid reputation for producing exceptional graduate nurses. The nursing program is committed to excellence in patient care and high academic standards. Our students are regularly challenged in the classroom, simulation lab and clinical setting to provide compassionate, holistic, evidence-based care to patients and their families. I am also happy to report that our students consistently score well above the national average on the national licensure exam.

A state-of-the-art simulation center awaits you and provides a protected, controlled environment in which to practice the skills necessary to become a safe and confident nurse. Our medium- and high-fidelity mannequins allow students to use their knowledge and critical-thinking skills to enhance their clinical learning. These clinical skills will be further strengthened during your face-to-face clinicals with our qualified faculty.

The faculty are here to join you in your journey, celebrate your successes and support you during your challenges.
