  • I went into the Millbrook Preserve and the Rail Trail in New Paltz and used a Zoom H4N to gather field recordings. I became interested in how I could manipulate these recordings and collage them into a piece using Abelton/live music software. I wanted to create an ambient soundscape, and ultimately was inspired by the change of season and the nature of the field recordings. Thus, I chose to include text and audio from parts of Ezra Pound's poem "In a Station of the Metro" and T.S. Eliot's poem "The Wasteland". I worked with Dr. Chen, and created this project in addition to/in response to her project, Resonant Echos. Both of these projects explore how field recordings and found sounds can create a sonic representation of land and nature.
