Supply, Demand, and Deism: An Economics-Based Explanation for the Failure of Deist Cults in Revolutionary France (Capstone)

This paper explores the Deist Cults of revolutionary France and why they failed to take root in French culture the way other traditions of the Revolution did. Using Rodney Stark's economic theory of religion, I argue the Deist Cults failed because they lacked the ingredients contained in most popular faiths.
