A capstone paper that examines the Malayan Communist Party's links to, and use of organized labor in the context of the situation leading to the beginning of the Malayan Emergency. It argues events during the first half of 1948 represented a preliminary phase of MCP activity that blurred the lines between industrial action and a conventional insurgency.
