My capstone paper examines the hybrid nature of the Cossack cavalry during the Patriotic War of 1812 and how the Cossacks' hybrid style of combat proved itself capable of defeating Napoleon Bonaparte's army. In addition, the paper argues for there to be a broader historiography of the Cossacks in 1812 and also calls for more works to be published about the roles that the Cossack cavalry specifically played during the Patriotic War.
