  • It is my pleasure and privilege to welcome you to Mennonite College of Nursing (MCN) at Illinois State University!

In my nearly six years at MCN, I have seen the college grow and change in many positive ways. Even through the throws of the pandemic, our outstanding students, faculty, and staff found ways to turn difficult challenges into inspiring opportunities, and continue learning, teaching, and moving forward. We are united in the belief that here at Mennonite at ISU, there are Redbirds changing lives every single day.

Nursing is a profession where you can truly make a difference, providing compassionate care in your community or anywhere in the world. Nurses are needed everywhere, now more than ever.

Why should you consider MCN? Mennonite is committed to preparing excellent nurses that hear the call to service and are ready to lead the way. We accomplish this through quality programs, caring and connected faculty, and a culture that fiercely embraces the future while never forgetting our treasured past. Whether you are a prospective student, faculty member, or staff member, MCN has a home for you. It truly is a great place to learn, teach, and work.

Let me share with you just some of the highlights that make me so proud to be Dean of Mennonite College of Nursing:

    • Student Success. Our faculty and staff are fiercely dedicated to the success of our students. MCN prelicensure graduates consistently achieve a high NCLEX pass rate. In 2021, that rate was 96% for the second consecutive year, by far beating the state and national averages of 82%.

    • Strategic Growth. MCN realizes the need to grow. Nationwide nursing shortages have created an urgent need to educate more nurses. Our strategic growth model aims to add 100 students to our enrollment each year, with the goal of reaching 1,200 students by June 2025.

    • Outstanding Faculty. MCN’s faculty are experienced nurses, leaders, researchers, and educators recognized at the college and university levels for their teaching expertise. Our faculty truly care about our students and the nursing profession, and it shows.

    • Groundbreaking Research. Nurse researchers at MCN are nationally and internationally recognized for their research and scholarship. Faculty partner with undergraduate and graduate students on evidence-based practice and research projects.

This list is just the beginning. I encourage you to explore our website and learn about our amazing array of programs, people, student life, and more. I think you will agree with me that Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University is truly among the best of the best.
