James Department of Nursing at Washington Adventist University (WAU) is among the first nursing programs established in the state of Maryland and is committed to providing quality Christ-Centered baccalaureate nursing education. The Nursing program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and is approved by the Maryland Board of Nursing.(opens in a new tab)

    The Edyth T. James Department of Nursing curriculum has been designed for individuals to develop professional competence in the scholarly practice of nursing. The program of study offers interrelated theoretical and clinical learning experiences. Multiple agencies are utilized for clinical experience including Adventist HealthCare: White Oak Medical Center and Shady Grove Medical Center, Adventist Behavioral Health, and Adventist Home Health. Furthermore, we have clinical sites in the Nation’s Capital such as MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Children’s National Hospital, and Washington DC VA Medical Center. In addition, we utilize the University of Maryland Capital Region Health and other various skilled nursing facilities.
