    History:

Hill Country Nurse Practitioners Association was an informal group initiated in 2003 by two Nurse Practitioners who felt that the San Marcos area needed a supportive group for the area's growing number of practicing Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants. The original name was San Marcos Advanced Practitioner (SMAP) and was changed in 2007 to Hill Country NP/PA Association. In October 2009, a needs assessment was conducted and the membership voted to formalize the organization and apply for affiliation with Texas Nurse Practitioners (TNP). Officer positions were proposed and an election held December 2009. In January 2010, our first formalized meeting was held. March 2010 the organization's name became Hill Country Advanced Practice Nurses & Physician Assistants (APN/PA) Association. In 2015 we became Hill Country Nurse Practitioners Association and joined Texas Nurse Practitioners as an affiliate organization.

    Mission:

The organization supports the professional development and fellowship needs of advanced practice clinicians in Hays, Comal and Caldwell Counties and surrounding areas by providing educational events and resources, as well as information on community service, employment, mentoring opportunities and legislative updates
