Connecticut Nurse Practitioner Group, Inc.

The Connecticut Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Society (CTAPRNS)  was established as a non-profit organization in 1981 (formerly known as the Connecticut Nurse Practitioner Group, Inc., or CNPGI) to provide a professional organization for the discussion of issues of mutual concern to advanced practice nurses (APRNs). 

CTAPRNS VISION 

• Increased access to quality health care for patients through the implementation of the full scope of practice for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses in the State of Connecticut. 

CTAPRNS MISSION

• Promote collaboration between Connecticut's APRNs, physicians, other health care providers, educators, administrators, consumers, legislators and stakeholders to improve the quality, delivery and access to health care for the citizens of Connecticut.

FUNCTIONS of CTAPRNS

• Provide a professional forum for APRNs in Connecticut for networking and peer support.
• Interpret the APRN role to the public as well as other professional, legislative and consumer groups.
• Provide employment information to APRNs and information about the APRN role to prospective employers.
• Encourage research that analyzes quality health care with attention to the impact of nursing, specifically advanced practice nursing, on the quality of health care.
• Provide continuing education opportunities for APRNs to meet their professional development needs either separately or in co-sponsorship with other groups.
• Initiate and/or support political action at the state and national levels to reduce barriers to the full scope of practice for APRNs.
• Interpret and/or disseminate standards of practice for NPs.
• Provide representation to local, state and national forums where APRN practice and education as well as broader health care topics are the focus of discussion.
• Provide opportunities for APRN students to participate in their state professional organization.
