Southern Gulf Coast Nurse Practitioner Council
About eight years ago seeing the need for a local Nurse Practitioner Network, Jeannie Abdou organized what was then a nurse practitioner journal club. The first meetings consisted of about six local nurse practitioners discussing new drug topics. The word quickly spread through the medical offices of Lee County through the assistance of pharmaceutical representatives.
Before long, our list of attendees eager to learn, network and collaborate grew from six to a group of more than 25. With our growth in numbers, we sought advice from our mother ship, the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network, who encouraged us to form an organized council where we could better serve the needs of the local nurse practitioner population.
Our goals are to continue to promote education, professional growth and networking opportunties. In addition we strive to benefit and increase our visibility within the community through participation in charitable events.
