  • Since the 1990’s the Treasure Coast Nurse Practitioner (TCNP) group has provided networking opportunities for Nurse Practitioners who live and work in our community.  Through the years, our members have enjoyed attending healthcare industry sponsored networking meetings and dinners.  In recent years, legislative efforts towards full practice authority for Florida’s NPs has led to granting of autonomous practice for eligible NPs.  Recognizing the impact of changes in healthcare that have occurred throughout the years has led the TCNP to shift its focus to providing NP education and supporting NP practice; supporting our community through outreach and education; and advocating for removing barriers to accessing quality, evidence-based, safe, equitable, and affordable healthcare.

In 2021, a group of dedicated TCNP members formed a planning committee for the purpose of creating a formal organization.  The planning committee worked together with the leadership of our state organization, Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN), and our national NP organization, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), to write by-laws and file the necessary paperwork to incorporate within the state of Florida. The committee also selected an interim Board of Directors to serve and provide leadership until the first official election of its inaugural Board of Directors. The focus of the new Nurse Practitioner Council of the Treasure Coast (NPCTC) is to continue to support its members’ goals and provide additional benefits to its membership.  Some of the plans already underway are to present NP education programs that also provide CEs, invite NP entrepreneurs who have their own practice to speak at our meetings, and to have an annual event where NP Students can present their doctoral quality improvement or research projects - just to name a few!   As always, NPCTC members will continue to support NP Students through preceptorships and mentoring opportunities. In addition, the NPCTC will support the community through educational outreach and advocate for legislative policy changes to improve access to quality affordable, safe, and evidence-based healthcare for those who live within our communities.
