ClimateActionWR

ClimateActionWR is a collaboration between local organizations, community members, and municipalities within Waterloo Region focused on climate change mitigation. Our community is working together to achieve Waterloo Region's long-term goal of an 80% greenhouse gas emission reduction (based on 2010 levels) by 2050. 

Our role is to coordinate the activities related to our community-level climate action strategy, measure and monitor progress, and engage the wider community in climate action activities.

We are always seeking enthusiastic volunteers with a passion for our mission. We offer role-based and project-based volunteer positions depending on current needs, as well as annual commitments through our Sector Committees. We have three sector committees: one dedicated to each of the three highest emitting sectors in our community's GHG inventory: transportation, workplaces (ICI), and residential. Committee members are volunteers, composed of community members, local experts, students, and concerned citizens, who connect groups and individuals to others working on similar projects, and take on projects and initiatives to catalyze action toward our climate goals.
