Frontier College is Canada's original literacy organization, with a rich and storied history dating back to our beginning in 1899. We achieve our goals through recruiting, training and deploying thousands of literacy and numeracy volunteers, developing youth leaders to carry on our work, and helping communities to build their capacity to deliver literacy services.
Frontier College supports five volunteer-driven educational support programs for children and youth in Waterloo Region and Guelph. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have pivoted to offering all our Kitchener-Waterloo programs virtually. Our programs vary in structure, but all are designed to provide free literacy and/or numeracy support to low income and newcomer families. Programming in Waterloo Region is offered during timeslots designed to accommodate a variety of schedules and provides opportunities for both individual and group tutoring. We are currently recruiting volunteer tutors for our fall semester which launches at the end of September/early October.
